QUEEN MARY - REFUGEES
Ludwig Katzenstein was born to a Jewish family in Eschwege, Germany in 1924. When Hitler took power and anti-Semitic sentiment increased dramatically, his family was forced to flee Nazi Germany, narrowly escaping Kristallnacht, 'the Night of Broken Glass'. They began a new life in America after crossing the Atlantic on the RMS Queen Mary.
