WWII veteran George F. Schneider spent his childhood growing up in the Great Depression. At age 17, after the attack on Pearl Harbor, he begged his parents to let him enlist in the army. They refused, so he "had to wait until 18 to get drafted." As a scout in the famed 30th Infantry Division, he fought in all five major European campaigns of WWII.
